THE GUARDIAN: Introducing the newest smartphone buzzword, “augmented reality”. The technology, found in iPhone apps such as Robotvision, Worksnug and BuUuk, uses the compass and GPS found on 3GS models to layer local data – from recommended restaurants to the closest place to find free WiFi -  over the image you see in the camera viewer.

Here’s The Guardian’s Benji Lanyado roadtesting the technology (including my current frontrunner, the Wikipedia-enabled Wikitude) on the streets of London.
